Rural Training farm : Tour:
Aoraki Polytechnic's Rural Training farm is a 60 Hectare farm
located at 102 Racecourse Road, Washdyke. Come and see the animals
and students in action.

Horticulture: Tour: Located on
Aoraki Polytechnic's Rural Training farm at 102 Racecourse
Road, Washdyke. Get a guided tour from our passionate tutor
of the orchard, greenhouses and gardens.

Art: An exhibition of our students work is
on show, come and admire their skills and creativity and gain an
insight into being an Art student at Aoraki Polytechnic.

Design and Photography:
Come and see the classes in action. Admire the fashion students
creations and speak with them about the design process, gain a
quick lesson of Adobe Creative Suite in Graphic Design and learn
how they take that picture perfect with Photography. The tutors are
available to speak to you and show you around their rooms.

Beauty Therapy and
Makeup Artistry: Beauty Therapy students will be
completing manicures, pedicures, Paraffin dips and demonstrating
facial electrical treatments. Makeup Artistry students will be
finishing assessments with makeup from different time periods. Gain
an insight into the Beauty Therapy and Makeup artistry industries
by speaking with the tutor and students and viewing some of their
works.

Hairdressing: Client Day:
Watch our second year hairdressing students dealing with their
customer needs. You will also have the opportunity to meet the
tutor and watch a practical lesson.

Business: Come and meet the tutor and
find out how Aoraki can you help you with professional development
within your current job or gaining the qualifications and knowledge
for a career in the business community.

Tourism: International Tourism will be
located in Starz - our on campus training café, bar and restaurant.
Meet the tutor, students and representatives from our local tourism
industry.

Animal Care: If you enjoy animals
and would like a career in this industry, then this is the
programme for you. Aoraki has a classroom with guinea pigs, rabbits
and mice, they all contribute in making this programme interesting
and interactive. Today's class will be on birds, so come and be
part of the fun!

Childbirth Education:
Speak to the programme co-ordinator to find out what the Aoraki
programme offers and how you can be part of this important life
choice.

Early Childhood: Come and join
our students in making play resources. The tutor will be available
to answer questions and explain the programme. This is your
opportunity to ask the students how they have found the
programme.

Health Studies: Come and listen
to a seminar on health related topics. The seminar will cover is
relevant to a specific lifespan stage and how it may affect an
individual psychologically, emotionally, physically etc. You will
also hear how to apply developmental theory specifically to the
topic. The seminar will last an hour with plenty of time for
questions.

Nannying: Enjoy a general presentation
of this new and exciting programme to Aoraki Polytechnic. You will
have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss the
programme with one of Aoraki's experienced management team.

this class to find out about study and a career in the rewarding
area of social services. There will be plenty of time for
discussion with both tutors and students.

Second year cookery students

Climbing Wall: Come and have a go. Experience the thrill
of climbing Aoraki's Climbing Wall. Speak to the tutor and gain
information about our exciting Outdoor Education programmes.

Sport and Fitness: If you
enjoy all things sporty then this informal chat will be of interest
to you. Come and be part of a general presentation with lots of
time for discussion and questions.

Information Technology:
IT students are currently running a helpdesk for free, support the
Diploma in ICT Students! Take this opportunity to meet the tutor
and see how the students deal with I.T problems.

Automotive: If you have a bent
towards all things mechanical then this could be the job for you.
We have tutors available to show you the workshops and give you
advice in this career option. If you enjoy automotive heavy
engineering, collision repair and refinishing, motor cycles, or
cars, this could be where you need to be.

Brick Block and Paving:
Have a go! One of Aoraki's experienced tutors will be available to
show you how to lay paving stones and bricks. Brick Block and
Paving is a trade of the future and will play a major role in the
rebuild and repair of Christchurch, so come and take the first step
with Aoraki.

Carpentry: Be a part of the tour of
the Carpentry workshop. There will be a practical class happening.
The Aoraki students will be on site working on the foundations for
the houses that they build over the course of their very hands on
programme.

Electrical: Generate electricity to
make a light bulb glow - by hand! While having the opportunity to
speak to students and tutors in our Schneider Electrical
laboratory.

Engineering: Take this opportunity
to visit the workshop while it is in action. Students will be
working in a practical session with tutors, giving you the chance
to see what being an Engineering student is like.
