What students have said...
Aoraki was the best possible start to my career.
The course was even better than I hoped it would be and it more than earns its strong reputation in the industry.
I’m now working as a reporter at The Star in Christchurch - a job I secured before the end of the course - and am responsible for two community newspapers.
Abby Gillies - 2008 graduate, reporter, The Star, Christchurch

I chose to study at Aoraki Polytechnic in Timaru after completing a degree at the University of Otago.
The quality of tutors and the reputation Aoraki has in the industry made the whole experience incredibly worthwhile and I would not hesitate to recommend study at Aoraki to anyone.
Ellie Constantine - 2008 graduate, reporter, Otago Daily Times

I decided to study journalism at Aoraki after studying politics at Otago. I enjoyed the learning environment at Aoraki - it was more hands-on and practical.  Everything my industry-experienced tutors taught me during my 34 weeks in Timaru I use in my job at The Star community newspaper in Dunedin. The fact that the course is based in Timaru is a surprising bonus.
Michelle McCullough - 2008 graduate, reporter, The Star, Dunedin

Being a reporter is, in my eyes, the most rewarding career path there is. You are empowered by your ability to speak to the public and give them information it is important they know, while your own life is also enriched by the experience of speaking with people from all walks of life.
I am only one of the students from the course who has already secured a job for when I finish.
Go for journalism and get inspired.
Cerisse Denhardt, 2009 graduate, reporter, The Courier, Timaru
