The hairdressing industry is exciting and ever-changing.
Professional hairdressers are continuously challenged to appreciate
latest hair fashion trends and also to create them.
Our certificate is equivalent to the first year of a
hairdressing apprenticeship. Our passionate tutors are closely
involved in the industry. Their connections to local businesses and
involvement in industry associations result in high rates of
students gaining an apprenticeship position following successful
completion of this programme. Aoraki Polytechnic's ties with
industry also ensure you are given current information about
technologies and trends in hairdressing.
The programme includes activities that are designed to mimic
working in a real salon. These include Wednesday evening openings
with real clients, managing bookings, the use of popular products
and other salon practices. Regular visits from industry
professionals give students current information about the
technologies, trends and products in hairdressing. You will also
gain an insight into the qualities and skills that potential
