Certificate in Health Studies (Level 4)

If you are interested in a career in nursing, occupational therapy, midwifery or any other health related careers, this certificate provides the necessary knowledge and a pathway to lead on to your chosen specialisation in health.

This programme gives you the chance to decide your direction in a career in health with the support of tutors to guide your studies.

Complete modules in anatomy and physiology, first aid, developmental pyschology, interpersonal and study skills, with options to take modules in chemistry, mental health and addictions, mathematics, practical English and Maori studies.

  • Subjects appropriate to on-going study in health
  • The structure and function of the human body
  • Major theoretical approaches in human development and psychology
  • The field of interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills in order to be able to apply these in professional practice settings.

What do you need to apply?

For entry to this programme it is desirable you have a minimum (or equivalent) of 48 credits at NCEA Level 2, made up of 12 credits at NCEA Level 2 in English, 12 credits at NCEA Level 2 in Maths and a minimum of 12 credits at NCEA Level 2 in at least two other subjects.

If you don't have the stated entry criteria, talk to us about whether you have the equivalent skills and knowledge or to determine if this is the right programme for you.

You may also be asked to attend an interview.
