The Diploma in Advanced Therapeutic Massage (Level
6) programme is for students passionate about developing a
career in healthcare, focussed on the hands-on treatment and
management of musculo-skeletal conditions. You will develop skills
and knowledge in advanced anatomy and physiology, pathology,
assessment techniques, advanced soft-tissue methods, business
skills and professional practice.
In addition to formal classes, you will spend a significant
amount in supervised clinical practice where the skills you are
studying will be integrated into real-world practical
experiences. This Diploma is studied online with block
practical courses held approximately every three weeks at Aoraki
Polytechnic, and will include clinical experience in the
Polytechnic's Massage Therapy Clinic under the supervision of
experienced massage therapists. Our Massage Therapy Clinic
is a practical learning environment, and is open to the
public.

What do you need to apply?
Candidates will be required to submit a personal statement
outlining why they wish to enter this course and which of their
personal qualities and experiences support their application. For
health and safety
reasons, you must declare any health conditions and hold a current
first aid certificate (or be prepared
to work towards one).

Employment Options
Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with
Massage New Zealand as Registered Massage Therapists (RMT).
Further Study Options
Degree-level study in human physiology or physiotherapy.
Postgraduate study in neuromuscular
therapy, lymphatic drainage or other bodywork modalities.
