Childbirth educators are essential to increasing the awareness
and knowledge of expectant parents through the many choices and
challenges related to childbirth and the ongoing care of
babies.
This introductory programme, the only one of its kind in New
Zealand, trains you to become a childbirth educator and to teach
pre-natal classes to expectant parents in a wide variety of
settings.
This is a self-directed, part-time (20-25 hours per week)
distance learning programme can be completed in a minimum of two
years and a maximum of four years. You will also attend two
workshops and our tutors utilise innovative technology to ensure
you receive plenty of face-to-face support for your learning.

What do you need to apply?
For entry to this programme it is desirable you have at least 48
credits at NCEA Level 2 with no less than 12 credits in each of
four subjects.
If you don't have the stated entry criteria, talk to us about
whether you have the equivalent skills and knowledge or to
determine if this is the right programme for you. You will also be
required to complete a written application.
