This is the programme where you can turn your passion for
adventuring in the outdoors into the opportunity to get work as an
outdoor instructor or guide in New Zealand and overseas. Enhance
your technical and adventure skills in Bush and two other chosen
pursuits. At the same time developing your instructional skills
through classroom, practical and feedback experiences. You will
complete 24 days of instruction as well as ropes course
facilitation. The programme includes a focus on adult learning.
This 'full immersion' environment and strong mentoring from
staff means that you are given a responsibility for instructing
local schools and community groups, gaining real experience that
will secure your career goals.

What do you need to apply?
For entry to this diploma programme it is desirable that you
have a minimum of 48 NCEA credits at Level 2 (or equivalent) made
up of 12 credits in literacy, 12 credits in numeracy and a minimum
of 12 credits at NCEA Level 1 in at least two other subjects.
We will also ask you to submit an application letter, a current
CV and a log book of outdoor experiences with the names of two
referees. If you don't have the stated entry criteria, talk to us
about whether you have the equivalent skills and knowledge or to
determine if this is the right programme for you.
