This is an excellent opportunity to gain basic skills and
knowledge prior to gaining an apprenticeship or entering the trade.
Our programme includes the Electrical Appliance Service Person
qualification, so that on successful completion of this programme
you will be qualified to do repair and maintenance of appliances.
This qualification is also a good grounding for work in the
security and audio industries. Your other option is to extend your
qualifications with further study in electronics and electrical
services.
This programme will cover current industry standards and
legislation and you will be able to apply your practical knowledge
in our specialist Schneider electro-technology laboratory.

What do you need to apply?
For entry to Pre-Trade Electrical it is desirable that you have
at least 3 years secondary education and at least 24 credits at
NCEA Level one (or equivalent) made up of 12 credits in English and
12 credits in Maths.
If you don't have the stated entry criteria, talk to us about
whether you have the equivalent skills and knowledge or to
determine if this is the right programme for you.
You may also be asked to attend an interview and complete a
pre-entry test to indicate your level of literacy, numeracy and
technical skills.
