Provider of Maori Student Support at Aoraki Polytechnic
Nau mai - Haere Mai ki Te Whare Poutama
Te Whare Poutama was established as a korowai (cloak) for all
people of the polytechnic and manuhiri (visitors). Te Whare Poutama
operates on the kaupapa of manaaki, tautoko, awhi, aroha which
reflects the values of caring and sharing, support and
understanding. The whare represents the polytechnic's commitment to
the promotion of bi-culturalism. At Poutama the Mâori Liaison
operates with an open door policy. An important link provided by
the Mâori Liaison service is with the wider community Mâori.
The Poutama has a holistic approach to supporting students. This
support may include but is not limited to:
- Cultural workshops
- Guest presenters/speakers
- Kapa haka / waiata practices
- Te Reo Mâori learning

Poutama is situated on the south east side of the Timaru
campus.

The Kaiarahi, Mâori Liaison and Tutor's Office is situated in
the centre of H block between Room H 33 and Room H 34

Mâori Liaison support is available for all campuses during the
following hours:

8.30am - 5.00pm
